Alternative page name
[edit]My thanks to @Good Olfactory for moving the page to a name reflecting the organization's current name. This has helped spur me to think about the conundrum of a page name.
"FAIR (Mormon apologetics organization)" is pretty long. I think it would be reasonable to use a shorter clarification that simply states one aspect of FAIR, rather than making a short description. For example, Fair is clarified as "Fair (band)" rather than "Fair (alternative rock band)"
What about the following possibilities?
FAIR (nonprofit)
FAIR (organization)
FAIR (apologists)
FAIR (apologetics group)
For completeness, I'd note that another possible page name is "Faithful Answers, Informed Response." However, since that is a reverse-engineered acronym, and FAIR is the consistent branding of the organization (and how outlets seem to tend to refer to it now), I'm not very sold on it. Admittedly, it would eliminate any ambiguity with other "fair" pages. P-Makoto (talk) 06:36, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- Judging by what I see at Fair (disambiguation), we probably should not use "FAIR (organization)" or "FAIR (nonprofit)". There are the organizations Families Acting for Innocent Relatives, Forum Against Islamophobia and Racism, Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting, and Federation for American Immigration Reform. The latter of these organizations is described in the article as a non-profit, and the others may be as well. I'm considering the others and also trying to think of other possibilities. - I prefer LDS Apologetics Group. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is respectfully requesting a move away from being referred to as’Mormon.’
- The term ‘Mormon’ is now more reflective of the collective of followers of Joseph Smith, such as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as well as some Polygamist break-offs from the original Church and also followers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, pre-2020. FAIR is clearly not best described as an amalgam of all of these groups. 2001:56A:F73F:4500:7D48:3302:EEE9:780D (talk) 03:02, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Also, shorter. 2001:56A:F73F:4500:7D48:3302:EEE9:780D (talk) 03:03, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
